派翠西娅·克拉克森1959年12月29日出生于美国路易斯安娜州的新奥尔良市，早年曾就读于耶鲁大学戏剧专业。毕业后，她留在美国西海岸城市从事戏剧制作。1987年帕特里西娅拍摄了银幕处女作《铁面无私》(“The Untouchables”)，她在片中饰演艾略特-赖斯(Elliot Ness)的妻子。随后，她便一直投身于演艺事业，并因在独立制作的影片《高档货》(“High Art”，又名《高潮艺术》)中饰演瘾君子格雷塔(Greta)而引起瞩目。担任2010年第53届伦敦电影节评审团主席。
